Hi Hi Hi!
Geraldine is here.
Blogging seriously for once about how I am feeling in Hong Kong.
It's been a while since I left Jalan Kayu and Sunny Island which I think is pretty rainy these days.

To be honest, during my first 2 weeks, no homesickness was felt, since every thing was rather new to me. I have never been to this side of Hong Kong before. You know it's like Toa Payoh of Singapore but no tourist will come here unless Hong Kong is as small as Singapore. Heehee.
I dived into a pleasant and fruitful shopping experience every day, even after work. You la I need to walk walk a little even after school before going home unless I was involving in IB brainstorming before heading home.
Spent a bomb since I came but no worries, still managing whatever I am left with well. It is sufficient to last me through my month of October with minimal shopping and extravagant meals. I have diverted my attention and money to better food now. More snacks and desserts after the main course. So I presume you will see a bloated me 42 days later. Like what I said previously, I am getting bored of shopping. It's like I have bought whatever I wanted.

There were days when I was just wanna scream when I wake up because my room is bloody small. I am a little claustrophobia. Never mind about 2 weeks ago, I found a perfect solution to my problem. The living room! The most spacious and home-feeling place in the whole house. I love sleeping on the sofa. Makes me feel fuller as a person when I wake up too. I can simply reach out for the remote control to switch on the tv so that the house is no longer so cold and quiet. I grew up with a big family. Every one used to live together until my uncles started their own families. At least there were 2 families living together all the way till I was eleven. Noise makes me feel comfortable and at ease. You know like how I always say I love the being in the crowd cause it makes me feel safe but I hate squeezing in a crowd.

Staying at home the whole day yesterday made me realised that television programmes in Hong Kong are really not my cup of tea. I only like to watch the weekday programmes beginning from 20:00 to 23:00. After those, I got to wait for one of my favourite television drama, Healing Hands which airs at about 00:05. Thank god, I bought vcd/dvd during some of my shopping trips and I brought shows from home both in soft and hard copies. For the first time since I arrived here, I cooked. Yups. I made breakfast, lunch and dinner myself. Went out to buy the ingredient on Friday after work. :)

Being in Hong Kong right now has one upper hand, which is the public holidays. I have 3 in total during the course of OIPP. One was Mid-Autumn Festival which was nicely spent with my sister and her friend. The next one which is tomorrow happens to be China's birthday. One day for SAR but 3 days for China! The final one will be Chung Yeung Festival which I am totally clueless about. Maybe I will go read up about it on Tuesday. My last public holiday will be fulfilling my dream of another long weekend. Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Heehee.

Moving on to the language. I hate to say this but I dont wish to speak Cantonese here at all. I abhor speaking Cantonese here. ARGH! Like when I booked my salon appointment over the phone, i asked the person in Cantonese if she understands either English or Chinese. Obviously, she understands and is able to speak the latter. Cantonese is nice to hear but aint that nice to converse in. I am never gonna speak a word of Cantonese once I get home. Oh wait, I will only say pork chop in Cantonese when I get back. That's what I call my mother.

Speaking of Cantonese reminds me of the nice Cantonese cuisine we get to enjoy in Singapore. Well, I have been eating well but a couple of times I was deceived. Like once I wanted to eat mushroom sauce pasta so I ordered that. Guess what? I received a pan-fried pasta with no sauce and barely visible mushroom. Oh GREAT! Swear to God, there wasnt even a word about it being fried. According to my colleague, that's how the people like it here. Oh FINE! Never mind that I still love the beef here. Oh prata is like HKD10 per piece here. After conversion it is around SGD2. Yeah. I am going home to embrace the so-called expensive 70 cents prata.

That reminds me, how are you guys coping with the food in your office district? All good. Complain to me if you want. Although most of my poly friends are fasting right now, so I doubt anyone will complain.

Oh shit! I am watching Japanese drama in Cantonese now! Damn the feeling is weird. And I think there is no dual sound. Geez! Afroza, you sure you still want me to buy home weird sounding drama for you? HAHAH! I am sure you've watched the show before, it was on Channel U some time back.

Aiyo! This entry is damn long. Time to stop and bid farewell.

P.S. I really like shopping in Mannings and Watsons here. Alot more to see.
